Ladies: Something with a smooth slick sole that you can pivot on (not rubber). You do not need a heel but the shoe should hold your ankle.

Gentleman: A smooth, slick sole is helpful so as to help move more smoothly. Leather soled dress shoes are ideal for beginners.
